Energy Capital Alberta Provincial 21.1 K Road Race

Lisa Harvey (Calgary, AB) Masters Division
Lisa has been the star in Alberta and on the Canadian road racing and cross-country circuit for more than a decade. Former champion of the Edmonton Half Marathon, Lisa was recently second at the 2010 BMO Vancouver Half Marathon this past May. Lisa has been incredibly consistent in her career and is a perennial favourite. Lisa is now considered a master for many reasons – not just by her “experience” but by posting great times and wins across Canada. 

Alemtsehay Misganaw (New York, USA)
Alemtsehay is the defending champion of the Energy Capital Edmonton Half Marathon. She is currently training in Colorado and has the following personal bests: 5K in 15:58 (2006), 10K in 32:58 (2007), 10 miles in 55:43 (2006), and half marathon in 1:12:48 (2007). Alemtsehay was also honoured as the 2005 New York State Runner of the Year by New England Runner Magazine. Look for Alemtsehay to continue her fast and furious pace on the 2010 Edmonton course. 
 
Sharleen Jackson (Prince George, BC)
Sharleen got her start in high level athletics as a member of Canada’s Junior National Biathlon team, representing Canada at the 2002 World Junior Championships. After taking a break from competitive sport, she began training for distance running, with her first marathon in 2009 in Victoria. She recently ran the BMO Vancouver Marathon, placing second in a time of 2:50:13. She is currently living in Prince George, BC, working on prerequisite classes to begin a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy.
 
Emily Tallen (Kingston, ON)
Sponsored by Mizuno Canada, Emily recently won the Canadian Half Marathon Championships (1:15:40) in April. She will represent Canada at the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships this October in Nanning, China. She was the top Canadian finisher at the Ottawa Race Weekend 10km and recently won the Emilie Mondor Memorial 5km in a time of 16:35. Emily is coached by Canadian Masters runner Steve Boyd and trains with Physi-Kult Running Club in Kingston. Emily is a teacher and the assistant coach of the Queens University track and cross country team.

Marilyn Arsenault (Victoria, BC) Masters Division
Marilyn Arsenault is a 42 year old long-distance runner who lives and trains in Victoria, British Columbia. She began training and racing competitively in 2003 and since then Marilyn has emerged as one of Canada’s top competitive runners. In 2009, she ran on two National teams (World XC in Amman, Jordan and CHIBA Ekiden in Japan) and was also a CIS All-Canadian (cross-country) and bronze medalist (3000m) for the UVic Vikes.  She broke the Royal Victoria Half-marathon course record in a personal best time of 1:15:39 in the 2009 event.
 
Katherine Moore (Vancouver, BC)
Katherine began racing competitively in 2005.  Last Fall Katherine placed second in the Victoria Marathon in a time of 2:47:27.  She will be racing this year at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon September 26th.  Katherine has great support from her coach Olympian Jon Brown and her Sponsor Saucony.  She is looking forward to racing the Energy Capital Edmonton Half Marathon for the first time.
